Effective programming and treatment, both during and after incarceration, play a pivotal role in helping people successfully reintegrate into their communities after their release from custody. Book chapter: Putting the Person in the Picture
Persons convicted of capital crimes are condemned to die, and that is a central fact of their existence. They are also condemned to years of confinement on death row, where they must forge a daily round of life for the duration of their sentences, which can run into decades. This chapter focuses on lived experience of daily life on death row as prisoners forge a life in the shadow of executions.
